Chunk Style Applesauce {Pressure Cooker}

When I was in high school I loved going through the Sunday papers recipe section. I’d clip and try any recipe that sounded tasty to me. This Chunk Style Applesauce came from the Sunday paper all those years ago. This recipe followed me into adulthood, through my college days, and is still a family favorite in my kitchen.

The original recipe is a crock-pot version. My sister tried this in her pressure cooker and sure enough it worked and cut the cooking time down dramatically!

Homemade applesauce is not only super simple to make, it also makes your home smell heavenly, & tastes DIVINE.

When I told my daughter we had apples for fresh applesauce, she made me promise to wait until she got home from school to make it. She rushed home from school so she could put the apples through the apple apple corer slicer, her favorite part!

This applesauce takes 4 simple ingredients and cooks in ONLY 5 minutes in a pressure cooker! {If you don’t have a pressure cooker, I’ll post instructions on how to make it in your crockpot below.}

Chunk Style Applesauce

8-10 Large cooking apples
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar (optional)
1 tsp cinnamon

Peel, core, and slice your apples, then cut into chunks and place in pressure cooker. (I quarter my apples after running them through the apple peeler.) Add all other ingredients to pressure cooker.
Set pressure cooker for 5 minutes. Once done, let the steam release naturally. Once the steam has released, give it a quick stir. Enjoy warm or cold, and refrigerate any leftovers.

*If you don’t like chunky applesauce, you can run an immersion blender through it until it’s the consistency you like.

*Crock-pot instructions.
Put all ingredients into slow cooker. Cover and cook on low overnight for 8-10 hours.
